If there is a lump, or a change in the voice
Do not wait for a routine appointment. A new lump or swelling in the neck, a swelling that is firm and does not move freely, difficulty swallowing, a hoarse voice that persists, or a neck swelling with fever needs medical assessment rather than a cosmetic consultation. Say what you have noticed when you call, so that the right clinic sees you.
Arranging an ordinary assessment
Where the complaint has been present and stable, appointments are made through the hospital outpatient line or through the appointment service described on the appointments page. Say when booking that the question is about the neck and, if you are travelling from outside Chongqing, say so, because the assessment and any imaging can sometimes be arranged across fewer visits.
What to bring
Bring any previous neck or facial surgery and when it was done, a list of your current medicines and allergies, the names of any conditions you are being treated for, and whether you have had filler, threads or a device treatment on the neck or face before. If you have photographs from a few years ago, they are useful for showing how your own neck used to look.
What happens at the consultation
Expect an examination rather than a presentation. The skin is pinched and released to see whether it springs back, the platysma is examined at rest and tensed, the fat is felt for which compartment it lies in, and the glands, the chin and the position of the hyoid are assessed because they change the plan. You should leave knowing which layer is responsible, what each option would change, what each would leave alone, and which guide answers your version of the problem.
Questions without booking
Questions about the content of this site, including any correction you believe should be made to it, are welcome through the hospital administration line. Clinical questions about your own neck are best answered in person, and we will say so rather than guess.
