Meet the Neck Aesthetics Team

This site is led and medically reviewed by Ke He, MD, who heads skin and laser aesthetics at Chongqing West District Hospital and who is responsible for the medical content. The other three physicians contribute what an assessment of the neck often needs: the center’s surgical standards and its experience of revision, the neck and facial operations where the finding is skin or muscle rather than surface, and the dermatologic care of a neck whose complaint is pigment, texture or a rash that has not settled.

Ke He (何锞)

Deputy Director & Head of Skin & Laser Aesthetics · Attending Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending · Lead Physician of This Site

Neck skin and laser assessment · injectable treatment of platysma bands · the honest referral when a neck needs an operation rather than a course

Dr. Ke He is Deputy Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and head of its skin and laser aesthetic service — and she is the lead physician of this site. A core specialist formerly at the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, she has worked on the clinical front line in skin laser and injectable aesthetics for more than 20 years, serving over ten thousand patients.

On this site her part is the examination that separates a surface problem from a structural one. She assesses the skin of the neck for whether it still springs back, examines the platysma with the neck tensed rather than at rest, and treats the cords and the muscle-driven lines with injectables where that is the honest answer. She is equally direct in the other direction: where the complaint is skin that hangs, or fat that lies below the muscle, or a gland that has become prominent, she will say that a course of treatment will not change it and refer the patient on rather than sell another session.

Clinical focus

  • Telling skin laxity apart from muscle pull in the neck
  • Injectable softening of platysma bands and muscle-driven lines
  • Device and skin-care planning measured against photographs
  • Dermatologic assessment of pigment and texture on the neck
  • Referral for surgery when the finding is structural rather than surface

The layer at fault, not the treatment you have read about

Most people arrive with a named treatment in mind. The assessment is not a negotiation about it. It establishes which layer is producing the complaint and then names the option that addresses that layer, which is sometimes smaller than expected, sometimes an operation, and sometimes a decision to wait. A plan aimed at the wrong layer produces no visible change, and that is worth avoiding in either direction.

Shaoliang Wang

Shaoliang Wang (王韶亮)

Director, Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center · Vice Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor of Medicine

Center leadership · surgical standards and complex revision

Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team he provides the surgical perspective and the tertiary-hospital backstop — the assessment when an operation is the honest answer, and the hospital-level care for the rare complication that needs it.

Within this site his part is the standard any neck operation has to meet and the backstop behind it, including the assessment of a neck that has been operated on before and has not settled as expected.

Clinical focus

  • Center leadership and multidisciplinary case review
  • Surgical assessment when an operation is the honest answer to descent or excess skin
  • Hospital-based care for the rare complication that needs theatre-level management
Tongchun Mao

Tongchun Mao (毛彤春)

Deputy Director & Head of Aesthetic Surgery · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Neck and facial surgery · skin removal and platysma handling

Dr. Tongchun Mao is an aesthetic surgeon within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is refinement and honest referral: he is the person who says so when an operation will do better than an injectable or a device.

Within this site his part is the operation itself where the finding is skin or muscle, including where the neck is treated together with the face because a lifted face above an untreated neck reads as a mismatch.

Clinical focus

  • Aesthetic surgical assessment and refinement of contour and asymmetry
  • Honest referral when surgery outperforms a course of injections
  • Shared case planning within the four-physician team
Yongbo Jia

Yongbo Jia (贾勇波)

Deputy Director & Head of Dermatology · Vice Chief Physician, Licensed Aesthetic Attending

Dermatology · the skin of the neck and its reaction to treatment

Dr. Yongbo Jia is a dermatologist within the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital. Within the team his role is medical skin assessment — diagnosing and managing pigment and barrier conditions, and treating skin that a device or an injection has irritated.

Within this site his part is the skin rather than the contour: pigment, sun damage and the crepey texture that responds to dermatologic care, and the rashes or reactions that need treating in their own right before anything else is decided.

Clinical focus

  • Medical skin assessment behind injectable treatment plans
  • Diagnosis and management of pigment and barrier conditions
  • Dermatologic care of skin after irritation or a delayed reaction

Start with the layer, not the treatment

An assessment establishes which layer of the neck is producing the complaint, what each option would change, and what each would leave exactly as it is. It is reasonable to leave having decided against treatment.
